Please read the 2011-Horizon-Report-K12.pdf before class on May 31.

For class on May 31 (please finish by midnight):

Go to edmodoand sign in as a student. Use the code ugs8jq to join our class. Edmodo is a Facebook-like social media for classroom use. Today, we'll be using Edmodo (an emerging technology similar in format to Facebook, but no email is required for students and there are many tools for teachers to enhance the educational experience) to have a discussion surrounding emerging technologies.

Once you sign in, do the following:

1) Figure out how to personalize your profile (just a bit).
2) Respond to your assigned topic:
  • Last name Bill-Haynes: near-term technology (Cloud Computing and Mobiles)
  • Last name Hendy-Meyer: second adoption (Game-Based Learning and Open Content)
  • Last name Munch-Wright: far-term (Learning Analytics and Personal Learning Environments)
3) Browse the videos (on Cloud Computing and PLEs) and link (to MIT OpenCourseWare) and respond with your thoughts on the topic. Do you think they will be used in the near future? How realistic are they for K-12 education?
